Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a trauma-focused psychotherapy that uses structured recall with bilateral stimulation to help process distressing memories.

What it is

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy commonly used in trauma treatment. It follows a structured, phased protocol that includes preparation, trauma processing, and stabilization.

What it may address

EMDR may be considered for PTSD and other trauma-related difficulties when clinically appropriate.

What to expect

A trained clinician first assesses readiness and develops stabilization skills. Trauma processing is introduced only when clinically appropriate and is paced to the individual.

How CCC uses it

CCC may include EMDR within individualized trauma treatment when assessment indicates that it fits the person’s needs and readiness.
